Guitar and Bass lessons Inner West
I am a Guitar, Ukulele and Bass Teacher teaching in Balmain and the inner west of Sydney with over 20 years of teaching and live performance experience. I teach a wide range of styles from Rock/pop, Jazz, blues, to classical and contemporary.
I have spent the last 11 years at St Patrick’s College in Strathfield teching around 30 boys a week. Many of them have completed their HSC on Guitar/Bass and my students have attained great marks. I help students with HSC curriculum Music Theory and have also had many students complete AMEB grades. Please contact me to discuss the lessons.
I have recently started teaching at the Inner West School of Music. We are located in Balmain near White Bay. I teach Guitar, Bass and Music Technology.
Glen has been a professional musician for over 30 years. Starting to perform at age 17 on the Bass guitar. After finishing a BA in Contemporary Music from Southern Cross University he moved to Sydney and has been busy as a player, teacher and producer/songwriter. For over 15 years, Glen ran commercial studios and taught himself a range of skills including music technology, audio engineering, producing and arranging. Multi instrumental skills like keyboards and Guitar were also developed working with a range of artists.
Glen mainly taught Bass guitar for 10 years then was offered at position at St Patrick’s College in Strathfield. Here he taught between 24-36 students per week, all on guitar. This further developed the guitar skills to take students through their HSC, AMEB, Soirée performances and auditions. The time here was also 10 years, so over 20 years teaching experience.
As a live musician Glen has toured Australia extensively as a Bass Player and a Band Leader. His credits performing and in the studio include a range of artists such as…
Steve Prestwich (Cold Chisel), Mahalia Barnes, Jade McRae, Taurine (ministry of sound signed act), 2020 Tamworth Star maker winner Blake O’Connor, Queen B, Jen Cloher, The Simpletons (winner of the first Triple J unearthed), Ruby Fruit Jungle, new age artist Alana Fairchild, Ghost Road and many others.
Corporate and Advertising clients in the studio include Lynx, NSW government,
Blue Angel Publishing, The chasers War, Gretel Killeen and amongst others.
Glen also spent a number of years playing Wedding and Coroprate events with The Baker Boys. Clients such as KIA, Novotel and hundreds of others.
Also composing music for short film and sound design.
Glen has taught over 500 students all around Sydney and in the Blue Mountains. Students have gone on to be in successful acts, play at major venues and Talia Wilkenfield is now an international bass player, working with Jeff Beck, Toto, Herbie Hancock amongst many others.
Glen loves to teach students a great foundation in technique and knowledge of songs, believing that playing music they love, will keep them returning for lessons. Once the students fall in love with the Guitar and Bass, they are open to learning theory, harmony, song construction, sight-reading and ear training. He has taught students from ages 8-80 and is very patient and tailors to each ones needs. Drawing on a wealth of experience and teaching materials, Glen over time, has developed his own teaching style and curriculum. He is friendly, listens well and very punctual.
