Guitar Lessons Hornsby / Mt Colah
Hi, I’m Aydin, professional guitarist and private guitar tutor based in the Hornsby area, Sydney, Australia.
I first started playing guitar at the age of 12, and started pursuing music seriously at 17 when I purchased my first Electric Guitar. I studied Jazz at the Conservatorium of Vienna in Austria, and have released multiple albums since 2011. While I am classically trained and passionate about Progressive music, I have never stopped learning new styles and techniques to improve my craft and creativity. This not only allows me to pass on the knowledge to my own students, but also led to professional studio sessions for many different work projects from Pop to Death Metal. I first started teaching in the early 2000s and have seen my students gain admission to the Conservatorium, record studio albums, and perform live on stages. Whatever your guitar dreams are – you and I are going to work on defining your goals, and we will work together to achieve them.
Why take private guitar lessons with me?
I believe in a personal approach to guitar tutoring, and take great joy and pride in helping my students grow as guitar players. At my Hornsby studio I teach a thorough understanding of music theory, guitar techniques, and music performances to help my students achieve their goals. I’m passionate about breaking down complex techniques and explain them as simple as possible for my students to understand. I learned that patience in tutoring is critical, and will happily answer as many questions my students ask.
My personalised approach to tutoring:
I believe each individual is different, and I’m flexible in my teaching and coaching methods. I don’t think forcing a generic curriculum on everyone is going to lead to success. There are books that I recommend to students that we’ll go through together, as well as personalised lessons and exercises I write for each student. Most of the books I recommend and play with my students are from Berklee Press, which I can highly recommend.
My students also gain access to a personal Dropbox in which I upload videos of exercises and songs so they have a reference at home. I also include exercises and backing tracks that I create for them to play along.
I will happily answer questions via email or text between lessons and if needed I will even record videos for them. Bottom line, I am always here support you.
I have students as young as year one to retirees who decided to learn to play guitar for the first time. Please note that I don’t teach to children under the age of 7. I do hold a Working With Children certificate.
As a private guitar tutor, I specialise in:
Beginner lessons
Advanced guitar techniques
Child, youth, and adult classes
Music theory and how it applies to your guitar playing
Making the jump from playing simple classics to complex songs
Basic Jazz theory
Pop, Rock, Metal, and Progressive
Learning basic improvisation, and moving to an intermediate level
Songwriting for Pop, Rock, and Metal
Playing Acoustic Nylon Classical Finger-Style
Playing the Acoustic Steel String
Playing the Electric Guitar
Electric Bass Guitar
Things I cannot help you with are advance counterpoint and Harmony, or advance Jazz and Fusion improvisation or composition. (Still working on it, someday I may be able to offer lessons in this category as well) percussive acoustic guitar playing.
To book your first private lesson at my Hornsby studio, or learn more about my approach to helping you learn to play the guitar, please send me a private message here. I believe it doesn’t matter what your age or skill level is, as long as you want to improve your performance or knowledge. I’m here to help.
Cheers,
Aydin

Aydin is a great teacher and musician. He can explain concepts in a way that makes it easy to understand. He has helped me learn a whole bunch of songs and was able to teach me good habits.

Aydin is a really great teacher. He has extremely good playing technique and is able to pick up on a lot of ways in which your playing technique can improve. He’s also got a very good knowledge of music theory and explains really well how it works and how all the parts relate to each other in a way that makes a lot of sense. I’d strongly recommend Aydin for anyone wanting to improve their music theory or playing technique.

I’m getting back into guitar after a 20 year hiatus and Aydin is just what I needed. Aydin has a very in-depth understanding of theory, songwriting, melodic soloing and of course shredding techniques!
One of Aydin’s best qualities is how he adjusts his teachings to suit your learning style and ability. He isn’t simply a teacher that runs you through scales and chords. He teaches the connections, sounds and patterns through different types of lessons.
For example, I used to think that modes were “simply” a scale starting on a different note. While this is true, Aydin shows the real difference in modes by the variation in sounds the modal notes make on top of each chord. It really makes you listen to what you’re playing instead of just going up and down a scale. I never knew I was so tone deaf until I really tried to play in this way! It was great! Only a teacher with an in-depth knowledge of theory can show you music in this way.
You know you’re in front of a real musician when they speak to you in “major 5ths” and “perfect 4ths” instead of “it’s on the 5th fret” 🙂
If you’re unsure, just take one lesson and you’ll see how effective he is at guitar and music teaching.
Peter.

Aydin is an amazing teacher with loads of experience in music and the music industry. I’ve been taking lesson for a while now from him and feel a lot more confident in my playing and understanding of music theory in practise. I highly recommend Aydin to anyone who has a huge passion for music as he can and will be able to help you achieve what ever goal you have in music. he helped my sister with her HSC music performances and exams and as a year 12 he is also helping me prepare for my exams. He has a huge attention to detail with your playing and can help your playing sound absolutely perfect. I greatly recommend Aydin to anyone who has a passion for music

After 4 years of playing without any Mentor, I found this great guy. They way he teachs is amazing! Including the “Dynamics of picking, how to play crystal clear, how to play the most efficient way (timings and finger positions) etc. And this is just the playing part. He also teachs you to make the best and natural sounds for your rig. God knows how I was in darkness about the electric guitar sound engineering. Thanks to Aydin now I’m on the right path. Trying to play fast as a humming bird and smooth as a rabbit skin B/ .

Aydin is an amazing musician, experienced teacher, and overall great guy. I played rock / blues guitar in high school and only decided to pick it up again 20+ years later. What struck me about Aydin is his attention to detail and systematic approach to teaching by breaking things down into simple steps. The first thing he determined that needed work was my picking technique, bending, and vibrato just by watching a video of me playing prior to our first lesson. He was also the first teacher I have had who clearly showed me how to properly execute and practice these techniques. This improved my playing dramatically in just a few lessons and allowed us to build on other fundamentals. I would recommend Aydin to guitarist out there of all levels as there is always something you can learn.

Had my first lesson with Aydin, and was thoroughly impressed. After a few emails back and forth, and sending him some videos, he was able to approach the lesson in a way that met my current experience. He also worked in some key lessons on technique and approaches to building good habits. We ended with starting to a learn a song I was somewhat familiar with. I look forward to my next lessons with Aydin.

Aydin is a fantastic teacher. My son has been taking lessons for a few months and enjoys them very much. Aydin is knowledgeable and able to pass this on to his students. My son has visibly improved in guitar and is always eager to have his lesson. I highly recommend Aydin as a guitar teacher.
